Dentofacial orthopedics, by acting on the child’s facial structures, allows a
lasting improvement in the patency of the UAS.
This role may be translated in terms of
prevention as well as the treatment of obstructive sleep-disordered breathing
in children and therefore in future adults. Our intervention as orthodontists will be particularly relevant in situations of superior endognathia and/or retrognathia, but also in patterns of hyperdivergent faces, which are known to both favor this functional disturbance and worsen with it. The aim of this article is to illustrate, through a few clinical cases, this capability of our profession, which is set to become among the most essential.
The evolution of orthodontics and Bioprogressive thinking by J. PHILIPPE
Orthodontics has taken shape within morphology, the science of forms. From its very beginning, orthodontics has studied forms and treated their anomalies. Angle wrote that orthodontics “aims to correct dental malocclusions,” and Izard that “Dento-facial orthopedics (ODF) aims at the prevention and correction of dental mispositions and facial dysmorphoses.”
Traditional Feng Shui balances the energies in our workplace by O. ROY
Feng Shui is a three-times-millennium-old art originating in China that belongs to
Eastern thought. It is a technique for positioning the individual, like acupuncture, the Chinese pharmacopeia, or martial arts, which makes it possible to find a certain posture in relation to a physical environment, to gain strength and protect oneself better. This discipline gives voice to the individual within a space, so that this place becomes an ally as soon as it is not chosen blindly. We look for optimal positioning in space and we see how it resonates with what we want to develop there.
Eutony by F. WEIDMANN
“The word eutony has been chosen to convey the idea of a harmonious, well-balanced tonicity, and in constant adaptation, in the right relationship with the situation or action to be experienced. Eutony offers a search adapted to the Western world, to help the man of our time reach a deeper awareness of his own physical and spiritual reality, in a true unity.”
Managing our patient’s pain by M.G. CHOUKROUN
We will present a clinical case that illustrates the management of the different elements we outlined in the previous SBR issue: factors that aggravate pain. We will attempt to show how the clinician can use these different factors to his advantage.
